Art & Psychology

The human side of art

Β

Why do some paintings make us uncomfortable while others fill us with peace?

Why do we admire one face and turn away from another?

Why can a melody bring tears, or a sculpture awaken forgotten memories?

This is not a place to analyse art as an expert.

It is a place to explore ourselves through art.

Every painting, piece of music, photograph, or film is also a psychological mirror. Sometimes it reflects beauty, sometimes fear, desire, loneliness, hope, or imperfection.

I do not write these essays because I already know the answers.

I write them because I want to understand the questions.

Β If, along the way, you discover something about yourself, then this journey has been worthwhile.

This watercolor is a symbol of New DesireLand.

Look at what it contains:

β˜‚οΈ Umbrella – protection, inner peace.

πŸ’› Yellow – light, hope, creativity.

πŸŒͺ️ Circular movement – like a thought or inspiration born around a person.

πŸ’§ Watercolor – lightness, incompleteness, life.

πŸ‘  The woman moves forward –  she does not stand still. She moves forward.

She walks through the rain carrying nothing but an umbrella and her imagination. The world around her becomes art.

She seems to be saying:

Art does not decorate life.

It transforms it.
